Summer is set to get even hotter for young people in Merton with Merton Youth Service’s Fun Day serving up opportunities galore for a day of entertainment, information and fun activities on Monday 9 August at Morden Park.
Between 11am and 4pm a special guest DJ will pump out summer beats to the crowd, while fun challenges like Sumo wrestling, Velcro football, rodeo bull rides and bungee runs keep the competitive spirit alive. There will be loads of prizes and giveaways throughout the day.
Teens will also get to step aboard the double-decker Youth Bus fully equipped with the latest technology and games, find out about youth centres in their area and sample some of the activities, courses and programmes available to them throughout the summer holidays.
DJ skills workshops will run all day alongside, event planning workshops, arts and crafts, beauty workshops including henna design, nail art and hair braiding, and a penalty shoot out match.
Councillor Maxi Martin, cabinet member for children’s services in Merton says: “This is a fantastic summer day out with friends and is an opportunity for young people to find out what the youth service has on offer.
“Merton’s youth service runs plenty of programmes and services for young people in the borough, and summer is an ideal time for young people to get involved and try new activities.”
Merton Youth Service Fun Day runs from 11am to 4pm on Monday 9 August at Morden Park, behind Merton College and beside Morden Park Pools. For more information contact Chris Roach on 079 8535 2181 or email detached@merton.gov.uk
