Merton Adult Education (MAE) introduces three fun weeks of free family events in the annual Family Learning Festival. From 9 – 29 October, MAE will run events across the borough in children’s centres, schools, learning venues and libraries.

Exciting classes include salsa dancing with MAE at the Whatley Avenue site on Sunday 9 October. In this fun activity session, families will learn new steps and enjoy dancing from 10.30am – 11.30am. Learning new skills can be quick and easy during the festival, with two hour classes on a variety of topics from nail art to digital photography and much more.
Hill House Community Centre in Morden are holding a family fun day from 11am – 3pm on 16 October. A full day of challenges and activities includes science games, crazy card making, circus skills, first aid and healthy eating. All this and much more will be on offer at this event, so come along for a great day for the whole family.
Merton’s libraries are also on board and classes such as family languages, fun fabrics and creating cartoons can be found in libraries across the borough. For more details on library specific events visit http://www.merton.gov.uk/libraries.
The Family Learning Festival has taken place in Merton since 2003 and is growing rapidly. Last year over 700 people took part and spent quality time with family members while picking up new skills and having fun.
Cabinet member for education, Councillor Peter Walker said: ‘It’s never too late to learn new skills, and with MAE there are so many chance to get involved. The family learning festival offers families changes to learn something new and have fun together. I hope to see families across the borough enjoying the classes available.’
