Art attack in Morden Library

Morden Library was transformed into an exclusive gallery on 1 December, hosting the first art exhibition by Merton’s Virtual School for looked after children.

Children from 5 to 16 displayed their works in front of proud foster carers, families and teachers for the first event held by the group.

Merton’s Virtual School for looked after children offers practical support to children, young people and their carers on educational issues. Children under the care of Merton Council, or those in care who attend Merton schools can use the service for appropriate support wherever it is needed.

Cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Maxi Martin said: “We are very proud of the great art work produced by the children in care. These young people have often had to overcome challenges and obstacles during their young lives and it is fantastic to see such great works of art produced for all to see. Well done to all the young people involved.”
