Merton wins award for excellent customer service

Merton Council has won a top award in recognition of delivering excellent customer service.

The council’s financial assessments and direct payments team, who arrange cash payments to those residents with a disability who want to manage their own care, have been awarded the Customer Service Excellence accolade for the fourth consecutive year.

This award replaces the old Charter Mark for high quality customer service delivered by public bodies and is assessed independently on behalf of central government’s Cabinet Office.

During the past year direct payments launched their finance and pre-paid cards making it easier for customers to purchase the goods and services they require to meet their social care needs.

Merton Council’s cabinet member for adult social care and health, Councillor Linda Kirby said: I am delighted that we have once again received this award. The financial assessments and direct payments team have worked very hard to ensure residents with disabilities are in the position to choose the council services they need.”
