Merton launches new online parking service

Merton Council has developed a brand new online parking service, making it easier for residents to deal with all of their parking needs.

By clicking residents will be able to speed up applications and renewals of parking permits, and deal quickly with any penalty charge notice (PCN). Also included is an online appeals mechanism. In line with Merton’s desire to be a transparent and open council, it has developed an online facility enabling motorists to type in their vehicle registration number and PCN reference and see photographic evidence of the incident.

Merton’s cabinet member for performance and implementation, Councillor Mark Betteridge said: ‘Unlike many other London boroughs, since 2010 Merton has frozen the cost of resident parking permits and cut the cost of visitor permits. This new online system will help our motorists by speeding up the purchase of such permits and make dealing with parking issues simpler and more convenient.’
