A local charity donated 300 Christmas presents for Merton’s children in need.
The Leader of the Council, Councillor Stephen Alambritis and Cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Maxi Martin took delivery of the presents that arrived at the Civic Centre.
Merton’s social workers are giving the presents to children this week in the run up to Christmas. GiftTree co-ordinated and arranged the presents after funding was donated to them by charity Generations based in Wimbledon.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Stephen Alambritis said: “These presents will make Christmas extra special for Merton’s children in need. It is great that a local charity has provided so much joy for these young people.”
Cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Maxi Martin said: “We are really grateful that our children are receiving such great presents. I would like to thank Generations for such a kind donation.”
