Council pays tribute to Headteacher

Bob Cargill, former Headteacher of Bishop Gilpin Primary School in Wimbledon has sadly died this week.  Councillor Martin Whelton, Cabinet Member for Education paid tribute to Bob.

He said: “Our thoughts are with Bob’s family at this very sad time. Bob worked in Merton for many years and was an outstanding teacher, headteacher and colleague who will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.”

Councillor Oonagh Moulton, Leader of the Conservative Group said: “I am personally deeply saddened to learn of this news as are all my immediate family. Bob Cargill was a wonderful Head Teacher who inspired our three boys and I worked closely with him both as a former Chair of the PTA and as a Governor of Bishop Gilpin School for many years. He was an outstanding Head and always put the needs of the children of Bishop Gilpin first. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, former colleagues and pupils of the school.’”
