Merton’s ready for Christmas

There’s lots happening in our town centres this Christmas season. Festive town centre events are starting on 28 November and will include light switch ons, market stalls, business events and much more.

Raynes Park illuminates Merton this Christmas

28 November, 3.30pm – 6.30pm

Businesses will be rustling up a Christmas treat for everyone to enjoy. The Mayor of Merton will be switching on Merton’s Christmas lights from the town centre at 5pm. Santa will be there and the air will be full of the sound of Christmas carols from St John Fisher School Choir and the aroma of mulled wine and mince pies. Winter wonderland in Wimbledon

1 December, 12pm – 6pm

Wimbledon’s Winter Wonderland has had a makeover and this year will be an all-day event. With festive performances throughout the day, street food, children’s rides and activities, come along to what’s sure to be a magical day for the whole family. This event is free to attend and will take place on Wimbledon Broadway, with a spectacular firework display bringing the day to a close at 5pm alongside our Christmas market. A very Morden Christmas

6 December, 3pm – 7pm

Morden town centre will come alive with Christmas music, market stalls and much merriment. Children will be able to enjoy crafts and face painting, and a model steam train.  For the grown-ups there will be wine-tasting and song. Come along and see the tree lights go on outside the Civic Centre at 5pm.

Mitcham winter warmer

7 December, 9am – 7pm

Mitcham has its very own Christmas Winter Warmer Market. Get your gifts and start that Christmassy feeling in the town centre. A lantern parade complete with Christmas carols from local schools will complete the festivities. If you want to get involved then visit the OneMitcham website.

Free parking at weekends this Christmas

Good news for all you Christmas shoppers in Merton. We’re turning off the pay and display machines* for the four weekends leading up to Christmas Day, plus Monday 23 December, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day: November 30, December 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25.

*Free parking is not available at Coombe Lane car park.
