The website gives people a chance to choose from a range of options including the type of pool, gym and sports hall they would like, as well as other facilities such as a sauna, climbing wall or café. The website allows people to select their options and will alert them when they go over council’s budget of £10million.

The online consultation will run until 4 April 2014 and there will also be public exhibitions held locally to gather feedback. The exhibitions will be held at:

Leader of the Council Councillor Stephen Alalmbritis said: “I’m a businessman, and thanks to the businesslike way we’ve managed the Council’s finances, we have enough money to build a new leisure centre for Morden. Now I want residents to have their say about what type of facilities they want for the money. For instance, as well as a pool and gym, should there be a sports hall, a sauna or even a climbing wall. The current 1960s pool has passed its sell-by date and, just like any good business would, we want the whole community to help us design an affordable leisure centre families can enjoy for years to come.”
