Merton Council election results have revealed a majority win for Labour.
The electorate has put Labour in overall control of the borough with a decisive 36 seats. The council’s 60 seats are broken down as follows:
Labour – 36
Conservatives – 20
Merton Park Independent Residents – 3
Liberal Democrats – 1
Twenty-two new councillors have been elected onto the council. The first council meeting of the newly elected administration will meet 4 June.
This is the first time in eight years that the council has been run by a majority administration.
