Merton Council is marking International Day for Older People on Wednesday 1 October with an event at the Civic Centre from 10am-5pm.
The event, taking place in the council chamber and organised by the council’s housing team and Merton Seniors Forum will look in detail at the options available to older people approaching retirement. The morning session will focus on housing with speakers from local organisations including Circle Housing Merton Priory. In the afternoon, the agenda will shift to support and care in the home with presentations from Merton’s Mascot Telecare and UK home care provider Home Instead Senior Care.
Residents who attend the event will be given Merton’s Winter Wellbeing booklet which gives details, advice and information about services available to them in the borough. Refreshments will be provided on the day.
Cabinet member for adult social care and health, Councillor Caroline Cooper-Marbiah, said: “Merton is proud to celebrate International Day for Older People with our senior residents. There will be many people at the event to socialise and speak to and I encourage all who can to attend.”
