Sons and daughters of Merton carers recognised for their role in fostering

Children of foster carers from Merton were given thank you cards and gift vouchers to recognise the role they play in making fostering a success for their families.

The event, held at the Avenue Children’s Centre, Merton, was part of the Fostering Network’s Sons and Daughters campaign which highlights the importance carers’ children play in making foster children feel at home.

Merton has 51 foster carers and over 50 children help support them.

Merton’s cabinet member for children’s services, Councillor Maxi Martin said, “Children of foster carers play an important role in making foster children settle into a new family. They often act as a friend, mentor and brother or sister to vulnerable young people. This event is the council’s way of showing its appreciation.”
