Last chance for residents to renew Freedom Pass

Merton Council is encouraging anyone who has not yet renewed their Freedom Pass, to do so online so they can continue to enjoy the benefits of free travel around the capital. If you have not renewed yet, visit http://www.freedompass.org/ to do so online.

Those who have not yet renewed are being given a six-week grace period from 31 March 2015 so they can still travel for free using their Freedom Pass on London Transport during this time. After the grace period passes, this will no longer be possible.

Merton’s director for community and housing, Simon Williams said, “It is great that so many Freedom Pass holders have already renewed their pass online. Anyone who has yet to renew theirs should know there is still time and to do so they should go online. If they need assistance, they can visit one of our libraries or Merton’s Civic Centre where a member of staff will be on hand to help.”

The Freedom Pass allows senior residents and people whose mobility is severely restricted by disabilities to travel on public transport for free across London, as well as on local bus services throughout England at certain times. It is Europe’s most comprehensive free travel scheme.
