Leader of the council, Councillor Stephen Alambritis, helped load up food and toiletry donations from council staff today, and took them to the Wimbledon Foodbank in High Path.
Fifteen boxes containing a range of toiletries, Christmas treats and food are now at the foodbank ready to be given to families most in need this Christmas.
Volunteers at Wimbledon Foodbank took delivery of the donations and got them ready for distribution.

Councillor Stephen Alambritis said: “These are very tough times and some of our families living in Merton are finding it hard to make ends meet. Christmas is a happy time of year for many and these donations and the great work done by many dedicated volunteers at the Wimbledon Foodbank help some of our more vulnerable residents have a good Christmas this year.”
Robin Thaney, a volunteer from Wimbledon Foodbank, said: “Every year we receive many items that most of us take for granted, but for the people who come to us for help, these donations mean so much. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. Merry Christmas everyone.”
