Second consultation planned as designs completed for Morden Leisure Centre

Designs for the new Morden Leisure Centre will be presented for public feedback on February 4 at the Morden Area Forum, 7.15 in the Civic Centre Council Chamber.

Following the previous consultation in 2014, the designs for the new Morden Leisure Centre include a café, a small pool with a moveable floor to allow for diving and greater capacity for swimming lessons, a 100 station gym and fitness studio on the first floor.

Residents and local organisations will have another opportunity to see and feedback on the Morden Leisure Centre design on 11 February. The first opportunity will be at lunch time at the Civic Centre, and then later at Morden Park Pools in the early evening. The event will also give residents further insight into the next stages of the project.

Cabinet member for Community and Leisure, Councillor Nick Draper said: “I am delighted that the designs for the new Morden Leisure Centre are ready for community consultation. It is essential for us to get your thoughts on our designs. We know from the earlier consultation what the community want and we have designed a leisure centre that the entire family can go to, enjoy themselves and get fit at the same time. However, the hard work starts now in ensuring that the building stays within the budget and agreed time frame.
