Merton’s Local Land Charges nominated as one of the top 10 councils in the country for third year running

Merton Council’s Local Land Charges team has been shortlisted for the third year running for a prestigious industry award for their achievements and outstanding work in providing local land charge services in the borough.

Shortlisted in the National Land Data Awards for Excellence as Most Improved National Land Information Services, the nomination recognises local land charges departments that have made the most improvements to their service. This includes the most improved turnaround performance in returning searches to customers. The judges also look for evidence of the highest increase in the percentage of search volumes handled electronically. Based on the team’s performance between 1 June and 30 November 2015, Merton has secured the position as one of the top 10 local authorities in the country in this category.

Merton Council Cabinet Member for Finance, Councillor Mark Alison said “It is an incredible achievement for our local land charges team to be shortlisted for the third year running in these highly acclaimed industry awards. Our local land charges team is a perfect example of Merton’s business-like approach in providing a professional, sustainable and high quality service.”

The winner of the award is due to be announced at the Local Land Charges Awards in Bristol on 29 February.
