The theme this year celebrates the 100th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s birth and will feature some of the author’s best-loved characters.

An awards ceremony will take place at Raynes Park Library on October 6.

Council Leader Councillor Stephen Alambritis said: “I am delighted so many children will take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge.

“Reading is such an important skill for young people to learn, and this scheme run by Merton Libraries is a perfect way to inspire children to get reading from a young age.”
