The Merton LGBT+ Forum have been busy organising a number of social events to mark LGBT History Month in February, and they are inviting residents to take part.
There will be a Sunday brunch, film screening, coffee morning and information stalls across the borough over the next few weeks.
LGBT History Month is held worldwide to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender history, and the history of gay rights and civil rights movements.
This year’s theme is Citizenship, PSHE and Law to honour the 50th anniversary of the partial decriminalisation of male homosexuality in England and Wales.
At All Bar One in Wimbledon on Sunday 29 January, the Merton LGBT+ Forum welcome people to a Sunday brunch event from 12pm to 2pm.
On Wednesday 15 February, join the team at the Endeavour Club, Martin Way, Morden, from 1pm to 3pm. There will be a Coffee Group for the over fifties on the first floor. There will be a guest speaker called John Morrill from Voicing Views to give a talk on LGBT Mental Health. An LGBT History Party is being planned for 17 February from 7pm to 10pm at the same venue.
The Civic Centre in Morden and Wimbledon Library will host stalls with information on LGBT History Month in February.
The Forum also has tickets for the screening of Victim at the HMV Curzon cinema in Wimbledon. Get in touch with them via the website mertonlgbtforum.org.uk or email info@mertonlgbtforum.org.uk to get tickets.
