Third time lucky hope after industry award nomination

It could be third time lucky for Merton Council’s Local Land Charges team who have been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award in its tenth anniversary year.

Council staff are nervously awaiting the ceremony on Monday March 6 to find out if they’ve won the Best Local Land Charges Department of the Last 10 Years Award as part of the Land Data Local Land Charges Awards.

It is the third time the team has been shortlisted, having enjoyed nominations in 2014 and 2015.

The awards highlight the work carried out by local land charges teams during the conveyancing process and aim to celebrate teams and individuals who uphold the highest possible standards in their roles.

Merton is up against nine other councils from across the UK in the category, which is one of eight categories which include top customer service, best performing department and an unsung hero award.

Merton Council cabinet member for finance, Councillor Mark Allison said: “I am delighted to hear that our local land charges team has been shortlisted again for their excellent service and professionalism. I wish them all the best of luck for the awards night and hope the judging panel recognise their hard work and dedication.”

The winner of the award is due to be announced at the tenth anniversary of the Local Land Charges Awards at the Bristol Royal Marriott Hotel on Monday March 6.
