Merton Council is delighted to announce that Pollards Hill Youth Centre will be hosting an evening with Michael Watson on Tuesday 7 November.
Michael Watson MBE, known as ‘The Force’, a British former professional boxer, will tell Merton teenagers his inspirational story of his boxing career, the fatal injury that changed his life and how he became ‘The People’s Champion’.
On the night there will be photo opportunities with Michael, sparring techniques with the Dwaynamics Boxing Foundation, a raffle and some wonderful fresh cooked food.
Merton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Councillor Katy Neep, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michael to Merton for what promises to be an inspiring evening. I am proud that this event has been organised by our young people for young people – helping to support the work of our local youth services.”
Michael Watson said: “I’m really looking forward to coming to Merton to talk to teenagers about what they can achieve if they have passion, dedication and focus. Boxing taught me that you can achieve anything with the right attitude and access to opportunities. Youth Centres are the vehicles that help to steer young people in the right direction, giving them the tools they need to succeed.”
Entry is by ticket only. Tickets are £5 each and free for U18s and members of Pollards Hill Youth Centre. To book visit the youth centre or email Jude Simmons. The evening is supported by Cordel Events and Dwaynamics.
