Put the petal to the metal and join our very own Merton ‘in bloom’ contest.
Merton Council are calling all keen gardeners. Are you interested in making your borough a more colourful place? Do you have a blossoming garden or plant display that you’d like recognition for? Then enter this year’s ‘Merton in Bloom’ contest.
The competition is open to everyone; from those working at a community garden with acres of space, all the way through to those who only have room for a small hanging basket on their doorstep: therefore leaving no reason not to get involved.
The awards given out will be for a whole range of different horticultural categories;
- Best front garden, over, and under 20 sq m
- Best balcony
- Best school wildlife garden
- Best pub
- Best floral allotment garden
- Best hanging basket
- Best commercial premises
- Best community garden
There is also a chance for the younger gardening enthusiasts to get involved, with a separate award for best A4 drawing of a garden up for grabs.
Cabinet Member for Community and Culture, Councillor Nick Draper said “Merton in Bloom is a great way for our community to draw closer together, doing something really worthwhile and enjoyable, and we look forward to seeing our residents’ green fingered successes this year.”
