On Monday 17th May, Eastway Day Centre reopened after 14 months being closed due to the Pandemic and they were greeted by a beautiful bouquet of flowers and plenty of chocolates.
Sandra Mak, who manages a team of social care staff and works closely with Eastway Day Centre, surprised the staff with the flowers and said: “Day care is a very valuable service for elderly people to have social stimulation and for supporting their informal carers by giving them a bit of ‘respite’.
“During the Pandemic, Zoe and her team at Eastway day centre have regularly communicated with my team following ‘welfare check’ phone calls to clients/families. The team at Eastway day centre have also worked relentlessly in supporting some clients to go out for a walk, so the informal carers could have a break. The feedback from colleagues at Eastway day centre on our clients has been very helpful in informing our reviews/re-assessment process as well.
Just thought I would ‘say it with flowers’ to show my appreciation!”
