Merton Council set up additional testing facilities in two parts of the borough this week after a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases linked to the delta variant.
Asymptomatic PCR testing was set up from Monday in the Figges Marsh and Wyvern Industrial Estate areas. The testing was targeted hyper-locally, so residents did not need to book this service – those required to test in the specific areas were contacted directly by the council.
Over the three days our Mobile Testing Unit managed to test nearly 600 residents over the two sites, with our on-street engagement team handing out over a 1000 home test kits and provided valuable information to residents on testing and vaccinations.
The council also worked closely with the NHS to set up two additional pop-up vaccination sites near to the affected areas.
