Merton residents can now see the full route for Run South London, the borough’s brand new half marathon, taking place on Sunday 14 March 2027.
The 13.1-mile closed road route will take runners right through the heart of Merton, past Wimbledon Common, through Wimbledon Village and alongside the All England Lawn Tennis Club, home of Wimbledon.
Runners will start and finish in Morden Park, a short walk from Morden Underground Station. The route heads north through Morden, South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Chase and Raynes Park, before reaching Wimbledon town centre and circling Wimbledon Park.
From there, runners head onto Wimbledon Common, passing the historic Wimbledon Windmill before making their way through Wimbledon Village. The route then returns south through more of the borough’s neighbourhoods and high streets, with Raynes Park giving residents another chance to cheer runners on in the closing miles.
The race finishes back at Morden Park, where a festival atmosphere and finish line celebrations will be waiting. The route is subject to change and use of Wimbledon and Putney Commons is subject to approval from Natural England.

“On 14 March, Merton will be showing London what a true Borough of Sport looks like, and I can’t wait to see our streets come alive.”

Will roads near me be closed?
Run South London is a closed road event. Roads along the route, including parts of Morden, South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Chase, Raynes Park, Wimbledon town centre and Wimbledon Village, will be closed to traffic on race day. We will keep closure times as short as possible. A full road closure map and timings will be published closer to the event, and residents and businesses will be contacted directly well in advance.
Can I still get to my home or business during the race?
The council and event organisers are working on access arrangements for residents and businesses along the route. More detail will follow ahead of race day.
How can I take part or get involved without running?

What will Merton get from hosting this event?
The race part of the council’s wider Borough of Sport ambition to get residents active and bring communities together. Run South London is expected to bring a significant boost to the local economy, supporting high streets, cafés, shops, hotels and transport services. An independent analysis has predicted an annual benefit of around £1.7 million to the local economy.
Will Merton schools be involved or benefit from the race?
From this autumn Merton schools can sign up to be part of Schools Run South London, a physical challenge open to all schools in the borough. The challenge is to complete 13.1miles before race day, split into 12 one-mile segments and a final 1.1mile section. The activity is designed to fit into the school day and be inclusive to all, with a range of accompanying events and activities being organised as part of the offer.
