Merton refuse trucks safer for cyclists

Merton Council’s fleet of refuse vehicles over 7.5 tonnes are being installed with side bars which will make the roads safer for cyclists. There is a lot of space under a lorry and the side bars act as a fence to prevent cyclists and pedestrians becoming trapped under the vehicle.
