Merton Council is already planning ahead to make sure Council services are not affected by any fuel shortage.
Due to sound strategy and prompt action, the fuel crisis that hit the nation hard earlier this year did not take its toll on Council services and a team has been put together to ensure Merton fairs well again.
The Fuel Management Team has been working since last month on an enhanced strategy to deliver Council services should a shortage arise because of protest action following next week’s passing of the ’60-day fuel tax’ deadline issued to the Government.
During the next two weeks, Merton will keep a close eye on the situation and will respond accordingly. A fuel hotline will also be set up to keep residents and service users constantly up to date, that number will be 020 8545 3327, but will only come into operation if the crisis actually hits.
