Merton Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (EYDCP) is holding information sessions on how local groups and businesses can take advantage of The New Opportunities Fund Out of School Hours Childcare Programme, a lottery grant fund that exists to help set up new childcare places for school children aged 3 to 14.

Grants can set up or extend services that care for children either side of their school day in breakfast, after school and holiday clubs. Established or new voluntary groups and private businesses can apply. Two new Merton Out of School Clubs have already been successful in gaining grants this year.

Merton EYDCP Development Workers will talk about the Fund and how they can help groups take advantage of this programme.

The sessions will cover:

– What the fund will support
– Examples of different out of school provision
– How new and existing children’s services can take advantage of the programme
– The application process

This event is free and the first session will focus on schemes for younger children. It will be held on Thursday 11 January 2001 from 12:45pm to 2:30pm in Morden. For further information contact Sue Thompson or Eyullahemaye Henry-Miller on 020 8545 3310/3361.
