COUNCIL TO LAUNCH MEET THE BUYERS EVENT

Merton Council is launching the “South London Meet the Buyers Event”, a London Wandle Valley Initiative, at the Civic Centre, Morden on Wednesday January 31 2001.

Those attending the launch will be introduced to the innovative event, hear about potential buyers and attend a free sales work shop entitled ’20 ways to double your sales’.

The main event, sponsored by the London Boroughs of Merton, Croydon, Sutton and Wandsworth , takes place on Thursday March 22 and enables small and medium sized companies from the local area to find new customers and boost sales.

At the event, local companies will be given the chance to meet senior decision makers from more than over 40 major local and national companies.

The format is in contrast to traditional exhibitions; senior buyers from nearly 50 major purchasing organisations will be situated in buying offices, allowing South London companies to meet and sell to them on a pre-arranged basis.

It is hoped that the event will generate large amounts of new trade for the area and organisers are confidently predicting £1 million worth of new business.

Organisations who have already confirmed their attendance at the event include the London Boroughs of Merton, Croydon and Wandsworth as well as AEI Music, Westpile, South West Trains, Norwest Holst Construction and RMC Readymix.
