Merton Council has condemned Wimbledon Football Club’s latest attempt to further its misguided plan to move to Milton Keynes.
Late last week WFC Chairman Charles Koppel and the Football League announced that the Club was pursuing a move to arbitration before the Football Association
Council Leader Andrew Judge said: “This is an implicit rejection of the positive campaign by the Council and supporters for a stadium in or near Merton – a return to Plough Lane is the first choice of both.
“The future of the Club is more important than the financial interests that presently control it. We will continue to seek an open dialogue with the Club’s present owners, but we intend to seek a local solution with or without them.”
