Flytipping to be targeted by council and police

Vehicles to be stopped to find flytippers

Merton Council is taking part in a police organised operation to combat flytipping tomorrow, starting at 8.00am in Merantum Way, South Wimbledon, Merton.

Up to 16 officers from Police, Transport Police, the Council and the DVLA will be taking part in the operation where they will be stopping trucks to ensure they are operating legally.

Journalists and news crews are invited to watch the operation take place.

The operation will start at Merantum Way and then move on to new sites around the Borough, as the drivers quickly communicate with each other when an operation such as this begins.

Any media that require the later sites can call 07770 223314, once the police have moved on.
