Vandals cause Morden Park?s Putting Green to close
Vandals ruined the week for many users of Merton?s Putting Green in Morden Park, by ripping up the grass at every hole and causing the course to close temporarily for repairs.
The vandalism occurred between 5pm on Saturday 12 January and 10am on Sunday 13 January when staff discovered the mess. It resulted in many disappointed visitors who were unable to use the course for several days while staff had to repair the damage.
Morden Park?s Putting Green, which is open all week from 10am till dusk, is particularly popular with users on a Sunday. Many retired and unemployed residents also enjoy the facility during the week and were unable to enjoy a round.
Merton Council?s Parks Operations Manager, John Tweddle said: ?I would like to urge anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact me. I apologise to all our customers who have been disappointed this week while staff have been repairing the damage.?
