Merton Council’s response to the Football Association arbitration hearing

Merton Council Leader Andrew Judge said:

‘Wimbledon Football Club has not succeeded in gaining the support of the Football Associations Arbitration Panel for its proposed departure from London to Milton Keynes.

‘The three person Arbitration Panel ruled today that the Board of Directors of the Football League should re-examine the clubs proposals.

‘When the case is reheard by the Football League we are confident that it will once again reject the move which against the wishes of WFC supporters, the majority of residents in Merton and football fans throughout the country.

‘What is needed now is a period of reflection by all parties. Merton Council is ready to sit down with WFC and WISA representatives at any time to talk about potential investors for a consortium to develop a stadium at Plough Lane and bring WFC back to Merton.’
