Housing open day to put residents in the picture

Event will advise on council?s repair programme

Merton Council?s Housing Services is holding an open day for residents who will be affected by this year?s Capital Works Programme.

Wimbledon and Mitcham residents who will be receiving home repairs or improvements are encouraged to pop in to the open day on Thursday 21 February any time between 10am and 9pm to find out more about the scheme.

During 2002 and 2003, Merton is spending about £6 million on refurbishing and repairing 1611 council properties in the borough.

The event is being held in the banqueting room of Out and Out at Morden Hall, Morden Hall Road, Morden and council officers and consultants will be on hand to advise and show residents all of the proposed plans and how they will affect each area.

Before the open day, each household that will be included in the programme of work will receive a letter and follow up reminder about the open day. Morden District?s open day is planned for March.

Eileen Nutting, Wimbledon District Housing manager and Judith Franklin Mitcham District Housing manager, said: ? We value any input from our residents. Our open day is the ideal forum for residents to tell us about any concerns they have about the proposed works to their home.

?I?m confident that our team will be able to provide detailed information to address any concerns, so please feel free to drop in for tea or coffee and an informal chat.?

Transport can be provided for residents with disabilities to and from the open day. People should contact our Tenant Participation Section on 020 8545 3618 to arrange this service.
