Merton celebrates Chinese New Year

Merton invites all of it?s communities to celebrate Chinese New Year with a specially arranged concert and dinner on Sunday 24 February 2pm – 7pm at Merton Hall.

Celebrations for the Year of the Horse event will include a special Chinese Lion Dance, a performance of the Two Stringed Chinese Violin (the Erhu), music by Frankie Lee, dances, songs and martial arts displays. A choice of traditional Chinese and Halal food is included in the ticket price for what promises to be a mouth-watering event.

The event is hosted by the London South West Chinese Community Association in partnership with the Merton Arts Development office and the Ethnic Minority Centre, Mitcham.

To book your tickets priced £8 for adults and £6 for children (3-12 years) and under 3’s free, please phone 020 8771 5926. Book by 20 February to avoid missing this very special event. There will be no tickets on sale at the door.

The Mayor of Merton, Stuart Pickover, said: ?The Chinese have been holding colourful New Year?s celebrations at this time of year for thousands of years, so let?s all join in with the traditional celebrations. Everyone is invited and I assure you that no one is expected to make anymore New Year?s resolutions.?
