Merton honours foster carers

Awards and dinner dance event to be held

Merton Council is hosting a dinner and dance event for foster carers in the borough in recognition of the invaluable service they provide to young people 365 days a year.

The event will be held at the Arnhem Gallery, Fairfield Hall, Croydon on 28 February and will be attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Merton, Rea Mattocks, Director of Housing and Social Services, Helen Lincoln, Head of Children?s Services, and Councillors Maxi Martin and Jan Jones.

Councillor Maxi Martin said: ?Helping young people as a foster carer can be a difficult and challenging task. There can also be lots of rewards, not least is the satisfaction of helping children through difficult and traumatic times.

?Merton places a high value on its foster carers, who play a vital role in the care of, and planning for the children who become looked after by them.

?In recognition of their hard work, we?re hosting a dinner and dance reception and there will be awards to commemorate long service of many of Merton? foster carers.?
