Schools unveil new classrooms

Liberty and Merton Park hold opening ceremonies

Merton Council is officially opening new Nursery and Reception classrooms at two schools in the borough this week.

Liberty Primary School and Merton Park Primary School have both had major building work carried out as part of the Council’s Schools Reorganisation project.

Liberty, a former Middle school, has been adapted to provide early years accommodation for its new intake of three, four and five year olds.

Headteacher, Chris King said: “We’re thrilled with the new facilities we are able to offer. The early years accommodation helps create just the right learning environment for our younger children.”

Merton Park Primary has had a new Nursery and Reception classroom built and its IT room completely refurbished. The new classroom has enhanced the appearance of the school by replacing the old flat-roofed extension with a style of building that matches the local architecture.

Headteacher, Stuart Roberts said: “We are ecstatic with our new state of the art early years accommodation and the enhanced provision for our older children. Merton Park is able to offer excellent facilities for all of its pupils.”
