Jubilee celebrations could spotlight local business
The borough’s Golden Jubilee celebrations are drawing ever closer and Merton would like to hear from any local companies who would like to discuss sponsorship ideas.
A host of events are planned between Friday 12 July and Sunday 14 July in Morden Park starting with the arrival of the Queen’s Jubilee Baton Relay. The baton set out from Buckingham Palace in March and is currently traveling around the Commonwealth before it arrives back in the country.
Merton will be the first London Borough to welcome the relay that will also include a few surprise celebrity guests. The baton itself is ultimately destined for the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, when it is handed to the Wombles in Wimbledon.
Merton is one of just three boroughs in London chosen to play a leading role in the celebrations that will attract coverage from the nation’s media, including a live BBC TV link up and be seen by thousand of visitors to the event.
Any help local companies could give by providing picnic areas, sound or lighting equipment for the stage, flagpoles or manpower for example, would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone who would like any further information on sponsorship opportunities or any other aspect of the Golden Jubilee celebrations should call the Event Co-ordinator, Catherine Parry, on 020 8545 4654.
