Help Make a Difference

Volunteer Mentors neededMerton Education Business Partnership (MEBP) is seeking volunteers from businesses, the local community and educational organisations who are able to use their experiences and knowledge to help young people overcome difficulties and achieve their goals.

Volunteers are needed for two mentoring projects FAME and Youth Start.

The FAME (Families, Access, Mentoring and Empowerment) project works closely with schools, the Local Education Authority and support agencies to assist young people who are at risk of school exclusion.

Youth Start Mentoring is a project designed to help young people between
13-19 enhance their personal and social development, education, training and work experience.

Anyone aged 18 or over who thinks they can make a difference to young people’s lives by helping to reduce school exclusion, raise school attendance and improve self esteem should contact MEBP for an information pack on 020 8545 2131.

Youth Start Project Manager, Elaine Jarrett said: ‘Volunteering will make a real difference to young people’s lives and give them much needed help. Anyone who can commit to at least one hour per week should get in touch with us.’

The City Parochial Foundation fund FAME and Youth Start is funded by the European Social Fund.
