Event will encourage people to have their say
Merton’s Housing Services team is holding a forum and open day for ethnic minority residents who live in council properties in Merton.
The aim of the open day, set to take place on Saturday 29 June 12-4 pm at Merton Civic Centre, is to encourage ethnic minority residents to become involved in tenant participation.
Participation can be achieved through encouraging this group of our residents to join their local Tenant Association or alternatively develop an ethnic minority sub-group. The open day promises to be relaxed and informal. Refreshments will be served and all residents who attend will be entered in to a free prize draw.
Event organiser, Glen Burnell said: “I’m looking forward to seeing more ethnic minority residents becoming involved in either existing associations or, with the Council’s help, starting sub-groups.
“These sub-groups will in turn give ethnic minority residents the opportunity needed to voice their concerns about issues that affect them. I would like to see this section of our community have a larger say in how we manage our estates and how we spend money.”
