TV star June Whitfield and the Mayor will open new council service

Merton Council’s innovative Merton Link service, will be officially opened on 3 July by the Mayor of Merton and a celebrity guest.

Merton Link, a pioneering new service launched in February, is designed to help residents access services from one single point, and it has already received extensive praise from both customers and staff.

The Mayor of Merton, Councillor Edith Macauley, and star of TV’s Absolutely Fabulous, June Whitfield, will be the guests of honour and after taking a tour of the facilities, they will cut the ribbon and declare Merton Link officially open.

More than 100 people have been invited from a wide range of organisations across the borough and apart from the ribbon cutting and tour, guests will be told the story behind the building of Merton Link and be entertained with traditional Indian dance and a steel band.
