The Wimbledon school was awarded £200 in prize money after a calendar designed by the students won the coveted UK ‘Education Extra’ award.
Initially, the students designed the calendar to sell at their school Christmas fair, however Deputy Head Teacher, Mrs Rachel Jacob, was so impressed with their work she entered the competition.
“During November, each class selected and designed a month in the calendar to represent all the different clubs, activities and study support activities available in the school,” Mrs Jacob said.
“The children worked so hard and the end result looked fantastic so we decided to enter the ‘Education Extra’ competition.
“The rules were to complete an original piece of work reflecting the study support and extra curricular activities available in your school.
“We are very proud of the students’ efforts, and the prize money is to be used to fund resources towards more extra curricular opportunities in the school.
“The children are particularly interested in using the money to fund a multi-cultural cookery club and we are currently raising funds to turn one of our classrooms into a food technology base.
“Well done to all the children at Dundonald for their great work, it paid off!”
