The award, a £1,000 grant, is to provide a Welcome Centre for asylum seekers at the Donald Hope library in Colliers Wood, offering community information and employment advice.

The award has been welcomed by library management and staff who are very excited about progressing their work in developing these much needed services and establishing ‘Asylum Welcome’.

The new initiative will focus on user needs and provide the kind of service to which ‘Asylum Welcome’ could refer those in need.

It is the intention that the new service will work towards achieving social inclusion and help to empower refugees and asylum Seekers in the community.
