Merton welcomes five new wardens

Merton has welcomed three new neighbourhood wardens and two new Town Centre wardens in the past few months. Each warden has undergone both national and local authority training, as well as additional joint training with the newly recruited Police Community Support Officers.

The new wardens are:

Robert Avdjian Neighbourhood Warden for Abbey Ward
Enyi Njoki Neighbourhood Warden for Pollards Hill
Godwin Lanyian Neighbourhood Warden for Lavender Ward
Shola Adekene Mitcham Town Centre Warden
Neil Robinson Wimbledon Town Centre Warden

The new Wardens are now in post and are working within the community acting as the eyes and ears. The wardens scheme plays an important role within the community on both safety and environmental issues, working towards making Merton a more safe and sound borough.

Ian Fall, Neighbourhood Warden Operational Manager said of the new appointments:

” We now have a total of ten wardens working across the borough, they have all gone through extensive internal and external training and are now working within the community, working with local residents and community groups to deter anti social behaviour and provide a reassuring presence for local residents.”
