Staff in Merton’s Education, Leisure and Libraries Department have been awarded Investors in People (IiP) status after receiving a positive recommendation following their assessment last Autumn.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Andrew Judge, presented the IiP plaque to Jackie Wells, from Community and Cultural Services and, along with Sue Evans, Director of Education, Leisure and Libraries, congratulated staff on their achievement.
The IiP assessor interviewed approximately 60 members of staff from across the department and attended part of a departmental Managers’ Forum.
The assessor was impressed with the department’s progress in all areas since their last assessment in November 2002, and commented on the very interesting range of services that staff worked in
Councillor Andrew Judge said, ‘Education Leisure and Libraries has nearly 800 employees and gaining IiP is an important step for the department and the Council in its bid to be assessed as an ‘excellent’ council in 2006′.
