World Book Day

Children from Morden Primary School had a mad time on World Book Day (Thursday 4 March) when author and Merton resident, Tony Hawks, volunteered to run a mad treasure hunt in Morden Library.

Tony, renowned for his humorous travel books stemming from mad bets, was the ideal person to set a challenge the children in the library with a treasure hunt.

Tony agreed to run the event with the library as part of the CSV (Community Service Volunteers) Lending Time Project, which is working in partnership with Merton Library & Heritage Service to create rewarding volunteer opportunities to add value to library services

Tony said: “Volunteering in the library is a great way to get involved and make a difference. Getting involved on World Book Day is a fantastic way to show the huge variety of books which are available in local libraries”

Andrew Chadwick, Lending Time Project Manager said: “Volunteering is a fantastic way to share skills or learn new ones. Volunteers can really add value to the library through activities”.
