Merton Council wants your say on the detailed advice that it will be providing to future developers and those wishing to submit planning applications. The council wants your views on these documents by 24 May 2004.
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) has been produced to explain what the council’s requirements are for providing affordable housing, design, sustainable transport and live/work developments. The guidance will be an important factor when the council assesses future planning applications.
The guidance is based on the planning policies that are set out in Merton’s Unitary Development Plan 2003. These documents will provide more detailed advice to developers on four areas.
· Affordable Housing
Advice on areas including government guidance on affordable housing provision, types of affordable housing, the housing mix and on-site and off-site provision.
Explains the requirements for urban design and the design of buildings, for both new buildings and alterations to existing buildings.
· Sustainable Transport
States the council’s approach to encouraging and delivering sustainable transport solutions in conjunction with development proposals.
· Live/work developments
Live/work developments are where living and working accommodation is permanently integrated within a single self-contained unit.
Merton Council is consulting from Monday 26 April to Monday 24 May 2004 and wants you to pout your views in writing. The draft SPGs are available for inspection in Merton Link, your local library or by visiting http://www.merton.gov.uk
