Merton’s Lending Time Project is on the lookout for volunteers keen to play a part in a range of children’s activities taking place in Merton’s libraries this summer.
There are some varied opportunities to volunteer at special library events. If you enjoy working with children you could play an active role in supporting them with their reading or helping them to use the internet. Each library will also be running a series of activity sessions in arts, crafts, music and drama. If you have a particular interest in any of these areas, there are opportunities to support or even manage the sessions.
Andrew Chadwick, the Lending Time Project Manager, said:
“Libraries in Merton are an excellent way to keep children entertained in the summer holidays, and we try to make the activities as informative as possible, but also good fun. People with particular knowledge or passion in certain areas add real value to the sessions, and make them all the more lively and enjoyable.”
“In addition, volunteering allows people to develop skills and experiences that potential employers will welcome. We want Merton’s libraries to be an increasing asset to the community, and volunteers can help achieve this.”
