Residents of Abbey Ward will have another opportunity to meet their Safer Neighbourhoods Police team at 7pm on 8 September, in Merton Hall,Kingston Road (opposite the fire station).
As part of a series of meetings, the Neighbourhood Specialist Officers for
Abbey Ward will meet residents to update them on recent achievements and hear resident’s views on local crime and the new style of policing.
Merton was chosen as one of eight police services across the country to test
the Safer Neighbourhoods Project. It is currently being piloted in five wards: Abbey, Cricket Green, St Helier, Figge’s Marsh and Pollards Hill.
Each ward has one police sergeant, two neighbourhoods specialist officers,
police community support officers and special constables, who will work
alongside the council’s neighbourhood wardens to provide a visible presence
and responding to residents’ concerns.
Merton Council is urging Abbey Ward residents to attend so they can have
their say. Similar events have taken place or are planned for all of five wards involved in the scheme.
For more information contact Sergeant James Rice or a member of the Abbey Ward Team on 020 8649 3145.
