The Leader of Merton Council, Andrew Judge launched Merton Compact last month.
The Compact is an agreement between Merton Council, the Sutton and Merton Primary Care Trust and the voluntary and community sectors, designed to strengthen relationships ensuring all sectors can work together effectively.
At the launch were the Chair of Sutton Primary Care Trust, Kay Sonneborn and Vice Chair of Merton Voluntary Service Council, Alec Botten who joined Andrew in signing the document on behalf of each partner.
Also attending were 70 representatives of various community organisations, many of who participated in an open day in September or submitted a written response as part of the four-month consultation period.
The Leader of Merton Council, Andrew Judge said:
“The Compact will allow us to communicate better with our partners in the voluntary and community sector which will effectively help us support the people of Merton.”
The launch of Merton Compact coincided with National Compact Week between 1 and 7 November, this year themed ‘Working Together – Better Together’.
A meeting later this month will ascertain how each of the codes in the document will be implemented.
