Merton residents have an opportunity to warm their homes whilst saving money and energy, in an initiative launched by Merton Council’s Building Control and Powergen this month, which offers residents cheaper home insulations.
Through the scheme, local homeowners will be able to install cavity wall insulation and/or loft insulation at very competitive prices. For example:
Cavity wall insulation to a 3-bedroom semi detached house can be installed for only £199.
In addition, residents that participate in the Powergen scheme before 31 March 2005, who are either over 60 years of age or in receipt of any qualifying benefits can have the work carried out for free.
Stephen Alambritis, Merton Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion and Economic Development, said: ” I am pleased that we are able to work closely with Powergen to offer this scheme to our residents. I encourage residents who have difficulty in keeping their homes warm to contact Powergen as soon as possible to see what concessions they are entitled to.”
